ME Bank donates $10,000 to the Pakistan Monsoon Floods Appeal.

ME Bank will donate $10,000 to the Red Cross to assist with aid in Pakistan as flash flooding continues to devastate the nation.

With 1,500 lives lost and an estimated 10 million people impacted by the floods, this is an overwhelming disaster.

Extensive flash flooding throughout Pakistan has caused landslides, sweeping away thousands of homes and devastating farmland and crops. A lack of clean drinking water is spreading disease.

Australian Red Cross aid workers are currently preparing to fly to Pakistan to assist in relief efforts and support the work of their partner organisation, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society.

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, which has branches and volunteers across the country, are delivering food, water, health services, shelter and relief items (including hygiene kits and cooking equipment) to affected people.

ME Bank's donation of $10,000 will assist the appeal to:

  • provide emergency relief and recovery assistance to flood-affected communities and displaced people's host families
  • send specialist aid workers to assist in the initial response and assessments and ongoing relief and recovery operations in Pakistan
